Why Sunbrella Fabrics Should Be Your First Choice Of Fabric

Before we go any further, let it just be stated that Sunbrella fabrics have been in existence for over 30 years. Thirty years may seem unbelievable to you right now, and this is because every season, Sunbrella fabrics are always at the tip of the tongue of seemingly every interior decorator as though it's a new trend. However, it's not; it's just a timeless classic that captures the heart at every glance, and in this article, we are going to highlight some characteristics of Sunbrella fabrics that make them so loved and acclaimed.

The first and arguably the most important feature of Sunbrella fabrics is its ability to resist fading. This is primarily as a result of being a solution-dyed acrylic fabric (each string is colored and not just the surface like other fabrics), thus making sure that its color is retained for years to come. It is noted to be able to withstand color change as a result of high temperature and pH when used on hot tubs, but when used more practically in furniture (particularly upholstery furniture), it becomes virtually ageless.

The second reason and perhaps the most practical one is that Sunbrella fabrics are known to be water resistant. This feature makes them more prone to being used for hot tub covers and in boats. Seeing as they are created from acrylic (a plastic), it means they don't retain water and leave watermarked stains. They are also mold and mildew resistant. However, it is suggested they be appropriately cleaned before storage to prevent mildew accumulation.

Sunbrella fabrics are very easy to clean. This comes as a huge sigh of relief for owners because, let's face it, cleaning furniture seems to be a challenge for us humans!. However with Sunbrella fabric based furniture, dust is not an issue as there is no means of penetration and accumulation, and liquid just remains on the surface without passing through, making it quite easy to clean.

Sunbrella fabrics don't pose a threat to the ecosystem. Quite a big call, seeing as acrylic, the chief component of the fabric is plastic, but the manufacturers always ensure that the amount of waste produced during the manufacturing process is as minimal as possible. Also, given the fact that Sunbrella fabrics can last for a really long time, accumulation of its waste is never an issue. There is also a system put in place by the manufacturer to collect possible waste for recycling.

Sunbrella has a variety of applications both indoors and outdoors, from indoor furniture and patio furniture and cushions to boat canvas, awnings, hot tub covers, and the possibilities are endless.
